Just to let you know that I did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I actually lit a fire all by myself. Yay!!!!!!!!
I think the little rant did me the world of good as I have now just lit another fire today and in half the time. In the grand scheme of things, this is not major news but to me it is as I know know I can keep my house warm in the winter when the central heating is off. Hooray!!!!!!!!!

Be of good faith, my dear girl. We women can do amazing things. I know. I have fixed a broken toilet all by myself ( thanks to Readers' Digest DIY) as well as unblocking a drain in a flooded yard! Good for you on your first fire!! Long may it burn!
